The UL Vikings continued their fantastic start to the 2011 IAFL campaign on Sunday 10th April with a dominant win over the Carrickfergus Knights in Maguire Field at the University of Limerick. The Vikings won the toss and chose to set the tone and receive the opening kickoff. After a good return from Wooster, Ohio native, Matt Kopina, Marc Ashworth directed a commanding drive on the ground to get to the Knights 30 yd line, before tossing a beautifully weighted pass to Paul Keane who trotted in to the endzone for the day's opening score. UL went on to score a dominating win over their hard hitting rivals, with a suffocating and crushing defensive performance, and with what is now their trademark physicality and stamina on offence.

The final score was 45-8 to the Vikings.

This victory sees the Vikings with 4 wins from 4 at the midpoint of the regular season. The Vikings will now see a break in the game schedule so as to give the students time to sit summer exams.The next game on the Vikings schedule sees a repeat of the season's opening day match up, when they will travel to face UCD in Dublin.
