UL Vikings American Football Club

Shamrock Bowl Champions 2007, 2008, 2009

The UL Vikings compete in the Irish American Football league (IAFL), and have one of the most successful clubs in Ireland in recent years.

Played throughout the country, American Football is an entertaining and physical game and is the fastest growing sport in Ireland. The IAFL consists of 20 teams with players representing all 32 counties, with the season running from March to August.

The Vikings are one of the three college teams currently competing in the IAFL and were founded in 1999. Since then the team have played in the IAFL's top game seven times, managing to take home the Shamrock Bowl on three occasions, the most recent win in 2009 against the Dublin Rebels. The Vikings have been ranked as high as 18th in the EFAF Top 20 and hold the honor of being the 2010 EFAF Atlantic Cup Champions, the first Irish team to ever win this competition.
